Two ceremonies, one for the inauguration of the Centre of the Somali Football Federation and other one for the restart of the 35th competition for the Somali Football Championship, which halted 2 years ago, held separately in the Centre of the SFF and in Benadir Football Stadium respectively on 18/8/2006. Officials of the Somali Civil Society sectors attended the said occasions.

An honorary lunch organized by the Somali Football Federation and held Global Hotel that is nearby the Centre of SFF was attended by members of the Somali Olympic Committee, the Administration of Benadir region (Mogadishu City) and pressmen/women. Then, the participants of the occasion moved towards the Centre of Somali Football Federation headed by Muhyadin Darbaweyne, and the Centre of the SFF was inaugurated.

The Governor of Benadir region that is also the Mayor of Mogadishu City Mohamud Hassan Ali Gabow (Adde Gabow) was honored with the inauguration of the Centre of SFF, and he said that he is happy to be invited to inaugurate the Centre.

Then, all the officials that attended the opening ceremony of the Center went by foot to the old Benadir Stadium in which the completion of the 35th competition for the Somali Football Championship restarted officially same day.

Officials among them the Governor of Benadir region, the Heads of the various sports federations, the Somali Olympic Committee, the authorities of the Somali Football Federation and thousands of Somalis stood up once for the reopening or the completion of the 35th competition for the Somali Football Championship, which halted 2 years ago.

The Governor of Benadir region Adde Gabow pushed the ball at first and he dribbled and kicked it showing the people that he is a former player that is clever at playing football.

Then, the first game of the restart of the competition took place there between Benadir FC and Faynus FC, while the two teams showed an excellent play that attracted the attention of the spectators that attended the occasion.

The first half of the game ended 0-0. At the 20th minute of the second half, the referee awarded a penalty to Faynus, but Mr. Oday, who is the Captain of Team, lost that opportunity.

However, both of the teams kept a clean sheet in the match, while people residing in Benadir region welcomed the restart of the competition for the Somali Football Championship.

Yusuf Yare, Hussein Goley and Said Mohamed Nur (Mugambo), the Director of Keysaney Hospital, the Chairman of Global Remittance Company and the Vice-Chairman of the Somali Football Federation - who returned from Italy same day - respectively, attended the match as spectatotoors.

It was an especial historic day 18/8/2006 for Muhyadin Hassan Ali (Darbaweyne), after he inaugurated the 35th competition for the Somali Football Championship while he is the Chairman of the Somali Football Federation.
